DCFTA Adaptation Programme – Support for SME Competitiveness in Georgia

The project aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Georgian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), facilitate exports, adopt new standards and raise awareness of the DCFTA (free trade agreement with the EU). It also works to improve the quality of local business advisory services.

Objectives

Objectives include:

  • greater SME competitiveness;
  • export facilitation;
  • adoption of new standards;
  • raised awareness of the DCFTA;
  • improved access to finance; and increased use and improved quality of local business advisory services.

Beneficiaries

Local private enterprises with fewer than 250 employees and annual revenue of less than €50 million

  • Business advice provided by local consultants.
  • Industry expertise provided by international advisers.
  • Trainings and seminars
  • Advisory assistance in export promotion
  • Market development activities

Results

In the project's first year, 56 business advice projects were initiated, and projects evaluated so far indicate a 22% increase in turnover and a 10% increase in employment.
