The project contributes to the EU-funded Programme ‘Economic and Business Development in Georgia’ by strengthening the policy framework to facilitate the development of SME clusters,  developing clusters in three sectors.

Objectives

The overall objective is to foster socio-economic development in Georgia and its regions.

The specific objectives are:

- Enhanced business performance of private sector actors in the construction, tourism and apparel sectors through cooperation mechanisms;

 - Improved institutional framework for cluster and business development.

Beneficiaries

The final beneficiaries of the Action are the private sector at large, as well as employees, job seekers and rural communities. Private sector companies will benefit from improved cooperation in key sectors and associated increased market demand and export opportunities, resulting in higher turnover, better working conditions, higher salaries and increased job demand. Communities in rural areas will have better access to income opportunities at local level, spurred by better exploiting touristic potentials in the surrounding area. 

Activities

• Development and pilot implementation of market-oriented clusters in the construction, tourism, and apparel sectors; support to implementation will include marketing strategy and platform, development of new products/services, market analysis, joint participation in exhibitions/fairs, capacity development of cluster members;
• Enhancing institutional capacities for cluster and business development, including support to the cluster development framework and support to Enterprise Georgia.

Results

Expected results by the end of the project include:

1.           Enhanced business performance of private sector actors in the construction, tourism and apparel sectors through cooperation mechanisms
