The International Trade Centre on 25 April hosted a discussion in Kyiv on the development and implementation of a Road Map for export growth potential in the Ukrainian berries sector.
The meeting was held in the framework of the EU4Business Ready to Trade project and brought together the State scientific and methodological centre of informational and analytical support of undergraduate institutions ‘Argoosvita’ with four main sector support organisations, the Ukrainian Berries Association, the Ukrsadprom Association, the Organic Ukraine Public Union, and the Ukrsadvinprom Association.
The meeting discussed issues defined by the Road Map related to the development of education and science, food safety, certification and conformity assessment, trainings and re-trainings of berry sector specialists, and the potential for cooperation with similar institutions from European Union countries. Additionally, the participants agreed on the responsible parties and terms of the assigned tasks in the Road Map for the period 2019-2024.
The participants concluded that the development of education in the area is very relevant and one of the priority directions for further evolution of the industry.
The Road Map development is one of the activities in the framework of the ‘Eastern Partnership: Ready to Trade’ funded by the European Union as part of the EU4Business initiative.
The Ready to Trade project works with micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine to help them target and access foreign markets, with a special focus on the European Union.
