On 6 September, the German-Ukrainian Fund (GUF) together with the Ternopil Regional State Administration will present a new Regional Interest Rate Compensation Programme for SMEs in the Ternopil Oblast.

Under the programme, interest compensation will be provided at the expense of the budget of the Ternopil Oblast in the framework of the GUF’s loan programmes, one    of which is being implemented under the EU-funded initiative EU4Business.

The new programme will be presented at a business forum on ‘Financial Instruments for support of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Ternopil region’, organised at the Ternopil oblast state administration

The event will be addressed by representatives from the GUF, the regional administration and the EU Delegation to Ukrine, as well as partner banks involved in the programme, and will include practical information on how to apply for a loan under the programme.

There will also be a presentation of current financial support programmes for SMEs in Ukraine, as well as success stories from Kyiv SMEs, where a similar interest compensation programme is already operational.

The presentation of the programme will be followed by a panel discussion on ‘Business Support Infrastructure – opportunities for the Ternopil region’.

The event will finish with the signing of cooperation agreements between the GUF partner banks and the Department of Economic Development and Trade of the Ternopil Regional State Administration.

The GUF implements the KfW programme of the EU4Business SME Finance Facility Phase II, with funding from the EU and Germany through the German Development Bank KfW. Its SME Investment Support programme works with local partner banks and local administrations to stimulate local currency lending, especially for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Ukraine that are not earning foreign currency and cannot afford the high costs of borrowing.
