22/07/2018 to 29/07/2018

For the third time in a row, the Sevan Startup Summit will be held on the shores of Armenia's Lake Sevan, from 22-29 July 2018. Among other partners and supporters, the EU, through its EU4Business project for Support to SME Development in Armenia (EU-SMEDA),supports the Startup Armenia Foundation in this highly interactive initiative, which aims to reveal, strengthen and support talented startups in Armenia.

For the duration of the summit, participants will live in tents and share a common lifestyle, which as practice shows, leads to more constructive cooperation. Startups, based on their stage of development, will be distributed between starter and booster programmes, after which they will be distributed into tracks based on the field of operation. The winner of each track will win $1,500 and get a chance to take part in Starter Big Battle and Booster Final Battle.

The prize fund of the Summit will reach $50,000. The Sevan Startup Summit 2018 includes a week-long micro-acceleration programme with the investment fund of $100,000, supplemented by a series of deep-topic workshops for qualified startups, introductory sessions for aspiring entrepreneurs, and dialogues with inspiring leaders.

EU-SMEDA has provided international expertise in developing the content and programme of the event, including with various sessions, campfire talks and battles, and a week-long coaching by over 60 individual coaches who will be working directly with participating teams, evaluating and monitoring their activities, advising, motivating and helping them with their pitches.

Each year, the startup summit invites prominent speakers who illustrate core values and are recognised for their entrepreneurial achievements and commitments to society and the economy.

In total, more than 4,000 participants are expected on the shores of Lake Sevan.

The EU4Business SMEDA project supports the improvement of the business and investment climate for SMEs in Armenia. It aims to strengthen the private sector, support SME coordination mechanisms, and foster links between research institutions and the private sector, as well as providing access to finance for SMEs.
