Smart Specialisation: conference in Khmelnytskyi

‘From development forecasting to SMART Specialisation of territories’

SMEs and local stakeholders are invited to a conference in Khmelnytskyi on 22 May, titled ‘From development forecasting to SMART Specialisation of territories’. The event is organised by the Khmelnytskyi Business Support Centre, with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the framework of the EU4Business initiative.

The deadline for registration is 15 May.

Conceived as part of the EU’s cohesion policy, Smart Specialisation is a place-based approach characterised by the identification of strategic areas for intervention based both on the analysis of the strengths and potential of the economy and on an Entrepreneurial Discovery Process with wide stakeholder involvement. It is outward-looking and embraces a broad view of innovation including but not limited to technology-driven approaches, supported by effective monitoring mechanisms.

The conference is open to representatives of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), joint territorial communities, representatives of state authorities and all parties interested in territorial development.

The objective of the conference is to: 

-share experience in territorial SMART Specialisation: challenges and opportunities for SMEs;

-report on the importance of SMART Specialisation and the creation of cooperatives as a promising model for effective business conduct;

-audit of territories and why it is important for SMEs;

-creation of added value for business in united territorial communities.

The Khmelnytskyi Business Support Centre is part of the EU-funded Network of Business Support Centres, implemented in Ukraine by the EBRD, with the aim of improving improve the competitiveness and bankability of Ukrainian SMEs through the provision of business advice and capacity building. At least 30,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs will benefit from the project.
