On the 19th of June, 2017 the Calarasi Business Incubator was officially opened in the presence of Mr. Octavian Calmic, Deputy Prime-Minister, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Aneil Singh, Head of Operations Section at the EU Delegation to Moldova as well as representatives of local and rayonal public administrations.

The Calarasi Business Incubator is the ninth Business Incubator opened with the technical and financial support of the European Union. Once full on stream, the Calarasi Business Incubator will host up to 26 Business Incubator residents, all of them local and regional SMEs, which will stimulate the local economy and increase employment. The residents will have access to a wide range of business support services including but not limited to business training, business advice and counselling and managed workspace units.

Taking into account the further plans of the Ministry of Economy to launch an additional Business Incubator in Cahul during the next coming months, the total number of EU-funded Business Incubators operating in Moldova will reach to 10. The overall financial support provided by the European Union to the establishment of these 10 rural Business Incubators has been over 3 million euro, of which 0.4 million euro for the Calarasi Business Incubator.

This activity was organised within the framework of the EU-funded Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) Sector Reform Contract (SRC), Component 3 “Improve key competiveness aspects in the field of internal and external market conditions and opportunities”.
