Women entrepreneurs and company directors shared their insights on how to run a successful business at a conference in Minsk on 7 September.
Around 150 women attended “Business Territory: Women’s Approach”, the first conference of to be held on female entrepreneurship in Belarus.
The conference was organised by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) under its Women in Business programme, which also enjoys financial support from EU4Business and Sweden.
How women can lead companies and innovate
Speakers from Belarus and abroad looked in detail at questions of leadership, management and innovation, and shared best practices and insights on how to run a company.
One participant, Elena Sergieva, founder of BusinessKniga VIP, commented: ‘I am developing my business with caution. Sometimes I feel that I am moving too slowly, but I want the business to fly.’
‘External support is very valuable. I am grateful for this opportunity to be surrounded by fellow businesswomen who openly share their achievements.’
Women in Business an important tool
Women in Business (WiB) offers female entrepreneurs and company directors in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries a toolbox of services to promote women’s entrepreneurship, including financing through local partner financial institutions and business advice.
Alexander Pivovarsky, head of the EBRD in Belarus, said: ‘The Women in Business programme is an important tool to help women-led SMEs in Belarus access the finance and the advice they need to grow and reach their full potential.’
