Greenhouse innovation in focus at EU4Business event in Khmelnytskyi

Farmers involved in greenhouse cultivation, and those just interested in the industry, had an opportunity to get up to date with the latest information and establish useful contacts during the ‘Tradition and Innovation in the Greenhouse Business’ Workshop in Khmelnytskyi on 20 October.

The seminar was organised by the local Business Support Centre with the participation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) within the framework of the EU4Business initiative of the European Union.

Over six hours, five speakers gave invaluable knowledge of the latest innovations in the greenhouse business to about fifty participants.

 

The following topics were discussed:

  1. Modern European trends in the greenhouse economy.
  2. Effective technologies of film greenhouses.
  3. Hydroponics for everyone. Growing green with the use of cutting-edge technology. Multi-level shelving - a solution for both urban farms and for the home.
  4. How to start and develop your own greenhouse business?
  5. Structures of greenhouses, possibilities of development of domestic production.
  6. Various forms of association as a competitive advantage of small farmers for the development of external and internal markets.

The Khmelnytsky Business Support Centre is part of the EU-funded Network of Business Support Centres, which aims to improve the competitiveness and bankability of Ukrainian SMEs through the provision of business advice and capacity building. It also supports BSOs in 15 regions of Ukraine in setting up a network of EU4Business Business Support Centres (BSCs). At least 30,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs benefit from the project.
