The Khmelnytskyi Business Support Centre with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) under the EU4Business initiative is organizing a workshop for beekeepers on brewing mead, taking place on 25 March.

The workshop – titled ‘Mead Brewing as a Basis for Beekeper Welfare’ – is aimed at training beekeepers to make value added products (drinking honeys). Due to low wholesale purchase prices, the recycling of honey into mead can be a good opportunity to generate additional revenue.

The training will provide beekeepers with process flowsheets for the production of drinking honeys with juices and herbs.

The trainers are Mykola Hornich, a professional beekeeper, and author of more than 400 articles and books, and Vasyl Barabash, the head of the Ukrainian Mead Brewers’ Guild.

The Khmelnytskyi Business Support Centre is part of the EU-funded Network of Business Support Centres, implemented in Ukraine by the EBRD, with the aim of improving improve the competitiveness and bankability of Ukrainian SMEs through the provision of business advice and capacity building. At least 30,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs will benefit from the project.
