Women’s role in economic growth: four-day conference in Tbilisi

Women’s Role in Economic Growth and Policy Development

Over 200 participants from government, civil society, the private sector and international bodies are expected to attend a four-day conference on ‘Women’s Role in Economic Growth and Policy Development’ in the Georgian capital Tbilisi from 27-30 March. The event is part of Women Empowerment Week in Georgia, and is supported by EU4Business and the EBRD, as well as USAID and other international donors and local partners.

The conference is billed as a unique opportunity for participants to learn and be inspired by successful women leaders, with a wide range of panels, presentations, side events and networking opportunities.

The conference will unfold as follows:

27 March: Welcome; panel on Women in Government and Civil Society; panel on Women in Business; training on social media marketing; market exhibition of women entrepreneurs; award ceremony for women leaders.  

28 March: Access to Finance.

29 March: women and Innovation.

30 March:  The Role of Women in Energy, Transport and Logistics

The European Union supports women entrepreneurs in Georgia through the EBRD’s Women in Business programme, funded by the EU as part of its EU4Business initiative. Under the programme, the EBRD provides access to finance through credit lines to local banks dedicated to women-led SMEs, alongside business advice to help businesses become more competitive. The programme also offers training, mentoring and other support to enable women entrepreneurs to share experiences and learn from each other as peers.
