Ukrainian companies learn how to attract new clients through merchandising

The role of merchandising in the apparel industry

Textile and apparel companies from Ukraine will participate in a four-daytraining on 13-16 May in Lutsk. The training focuses on the role of merchandising in the apparel industry and is organised by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Ukrlegprom Association (ULP), as part of the Ready to Trade project funded by the European Union’s EU4Business initiative.

The training aims to strengthen the marketing capacities of export-oriented Ukrainian SMEs and to boost the competitiveness of the Ukrainian textile and apparel industry.

Participating companies will get recommendations on how to improve their client relations and better promote their goods. Companies will also learn about the product development cycle, order execution cycle, costing and pricing, cooperation with development and production team, as well as stock and supply management and shipping management.

The training will be conducted by the apparel expert from India Sampath Kasirajan. Sampath has years of experience in merchandising, business development, marketing and sales. Each day of the training will include theory, practical exercises and tests. The participants will receive training support materials as well as the post-training support from the organisers.

The Eastern Partnership: Ready to Trade project helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to access new markets with a focus on the EU, helping SMEs identify and comply with quality and standards to meet international requirements, linking them with buyers along the value chain, and providing cluster support.
