Students in Armenia: sign up now for Startup Boost Weekend

 |
14/09/2018 to 16/09/2018

Students in Armenia have until 8 September to register for Startup Boost Weekend, a three-day event supported by the EU4Business SMEDA project, taking place at the American University of Armenia (AUA) in Yerevan on 14-16 September.

The 54-hour event takes place from Friday to Sunday, giving students with different skillsets – software developers, business students, graphic designers, startup enthusiasts and more – the opportunity to come together, team up, and by the end of the event pitch ideas for new startup companies.

In just three days, students will experience the highs, lows, fun, and pressure that make up life at a startup. Learning how to take their ideas from concept to creation, participants will be given a chance to meet experienced mentors, entrepreneurs, and investors, who are ready to help them get started in the real world.
Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through team formation, business model development, customer interviews, prototyping, deck design and pitching, Startup Boost Weekend culminates with four-minute presentations to the panel of experienced entrepreneurs, with prizes for the winning startup teams!
The 1stplaced team will be accepted at the AUA’s EPIC - Entrepreneurship and Product Innovation Centre – the university’s on-campus startup incubator that helps students, alumni, and other entrepreneurs to advance their ventures from idea to success. The winners will also receive a cheque for $600 and a bundle of mind-blowing books. The runners-up will receive $400 and a bundle of books.
Interested students should register by 6pm on 8 September, using the Breedge platform (winners of last year’s Startup Boost Weekend 2017).
Those who are accepted will receive an email and phone call confirmation on September 12.
Startup Boost Weekend 2018 is implemented in the framework of the EU4Business Support to SME Development (EU-SMEDA) Project, which is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ’s Private Sector Development in South Caucasus Programme.

The EU4Business SMEDA project supports the improvement of the business and investment climate for SMEs in Armenia. It aims to strengthen the private sector, support SME coordination mechanisms, and foster links between research institutions and the private sector, as well as providing access to finance for SMEs.
