How long does it take to start up a taxi service? How do you open a charging station for electric cars? How long will it take to obtain permissions for a kindergarten? Typically, Ukrainian entrepreneurs struggle to answer these questions on their own. But on September 20, the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO), set-up under EU4Business, will bring together the government officials who devise the rules for business, and the entrepreneurs who have to follow them.

The BRDO has been set up under the EU4Business FORBIZ project, implemented by the German-based GFA consulting group and funded by the European Union.

Participants will discuss legislative challenges and ways to simplify procedures on the basis of real cases, ranging from opening a restaurant, to a private medical practice.

For example, representatives of the network of children's educational institutions will tell about the pitfalls of the registration of documents for kindergartens, while Ukrainian internet providers will speak about the peculiarities of Internet service providers in the regions.

The BRDO has created a Platform for Effective regulation, PRO, containing step-by-step instructions for procedures and rules for obtaining permits for each specific business. From now on, entrepreneurs no longer need to study dozens of sites and complex explanations, but can visit the PRO platform, and obtain the necessary check-list including what documents to collect, how long each procedure takes, where to go, etc.

The main part of the event will take place in the World café format.

The FORBIZ project supports Ukraine’s reform agenda and its economic recovery by proposing a systemic change to a more business-friendly environment with a particular focus on SMEs. The project seeks to steer a shift in policy towards greater recognition of SMEs and the vital role they play in economic recovery, while addressing the challenge of reducing regulatory burden and lessening risk for businesses.
