More than 500 SMEs, business support organisations, as well as representatives from government, the international donor community and financial institutions, will gather for the National SME Development Forum 2018 in Kyiv on 26 June, making it the biggest national event spearheading the development and growth of SMEs in Ukraine.
The Forum is organised by the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and the EU4Business FORBIZ.
SMEs are invited to join the Forum to meet the international projects supporting small businesses as well as financial institutions, and discuss with experts the business perspectives and possibilities of support for business growth. They will learn about EU tools and support mechanisms for business development and discover the financial instruments for SMEs provied by the banking sector.
There will be plenary sessions and workshops, featuring engaging keynote speakers and SME experts who will provide tips, suggestions and share their experience in creating successful business models during open discussions.
The Forum is also an opportunity to create a network of unique, targeted contacts and to strengthen chances for the development of successful business.
The Forum takes place against the backdrop of the government’s new economic policy, which puts a greater focus on SMEs and, together with the continuous assistance of the international community and financial institutions within the country, provides a new impetus for SME empowerment, aiming to tap into the entrepreneurial potential in the country.
By sharing best practices and solutions to current challenges, the “National SME Development Forum 2018” will look at ways to enhance the support policy and programmes for entrepreneurship development through improved coordination mechanism among key stakeholders to stimulate a vibrant and prosperous SME sector in the country.
The Forum is taking place within the framework of European SME Week – a pan-European campaign that aims to promote entrepreneurship in Europe.
Part of the EU4Business initiative, the EU-funded FORBIZ project supports Ukraine’s reform agenda and its economic recovery by proposing a systemic change to a more business-friendly environment with a particular focus on SMEs. The project seeks to steer a shift in policy towards greater recognition of SMEs and the vital role they play in economic recovery, while addressing the challenge of reducing regulatory burden and lessening risk for businesses.
