A round table on ‘Crypto-currency Market Regulation’ is being organised by the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO) on 24 May in Kyiv, as part of the EU4Business initiative.

The BRDO is funded by the European Union within the framework of the FORBIZ project and the EU4Business Initiative, with the aim of simplifying the process of doing business and providing effective state regulation in key sectors of the economy.

The BRDO invites stakeholders to discuss following issues:

  • what is the place of the State in fast-emerging market of crypto-currencies?
  • does the current legislation restrict crypto-currency market development?
  • what risks exist for the state and market participants when using crypto-currencies? 
  • is it necessary to license services related to crypto-currency?

Approximately 1,800 different crypto-currencies have been created all over the world, 25 of them by companies of Ukrainian descent. Ukraine is among the top 10 countries with the highest rate of crypto-currency application, with daily traded value amounting to US$1.9 billion. At the same time, the legal status of crypto-currencies in Ukraine is still unclear. There are no registered companies that carry out relevant activities on the market.
