The 13th meeting of the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee was held in Baku on 20 September

Azerbaijan is strongly committed to pursuing its cooperation with the European Union, stressed Samad Seyidov, chairman of Azerbaijan's international and inter-parliamentary relations committee, at the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee held in Baku in September.

This was echoed by the co-chair of the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and head of the European Parliament delegation, Sajjad Karim, UK member of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, who pointed out that the EU considered its relationship with Azerbaijan as “very important and mutually beneficial”.

"There is substantial potential to deepen and strengthen the bilateral relationship,” Mr Karim said.

The EP delegation was received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and met with Shahin Mustafayev, the Economy Minister, and Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev, Deputy Foreign Minister. They also visited an EU-funded project to modernise ASAN, the state agency for public service and social innovation.
