A round-table on liberalisation of the natural gas supply market is being organised in Kyiv on 22 September 2017, by the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO), with the support of the EU4Business project FORBIZ.

Titled, ‘Liberalisation of the natural gas supply market: challenges and opportunities’, the round-table will discuss the following issues:

  • Winter is close - the risks of passing new winter highs in 2017/2018
  • Complete deregulation of gas prices - barriers and prospects
  • 100% gas accounting - how to provide?
  • Separation of natural monopolies from competitive markets - barriers and benefits

Among the speakers will be Minister of Energy and Coal Igor Nasalik, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Maxim Nefyodov, Oleksandr Dombrovsky, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Fuel and Energy, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety of the Verkhovna Rada, Johannes Baur from the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Head of the State Regulatory Service Ksenia Lyapina, Chairman of the Board of NJSC Naftogaz Ukraine Andriy Kobolev, and many others.

Participation at the round table is free, but prior registration is required.

Part of the EU4Business initiative, the EU-funded FORBIZ project supports Ukraine’s reform agenda and its economic recovery by proposing a systemic change to a more business-friendly environment with a particular focus on SMEs. The project seeks to steer a shift in policy towards greater recognition of SMEs and the vital role they play in economic recovery, while addressing the challenge of reducing regulatory burden and lessening risk for businesses.
