Armenian and EU companies, representatives of NGOs, national government and international missions, are invited to attend the launch of a website aimed at encouraging the reporting of barriers to business in Armenia.
The official launch of bizprotect will be held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Yerevan at 11.00 on Friday 28 April.
An innovative tool aimed at gathering information from SMEs about the main barriers to business and corruption risks in Armenia, the website has been developed under the “Evidence-based Advocacy for Reform” project, funded by the EU4Business Support to SME Development in Armenia (SMEDA) project.
Business people will be able to report anything to the website that hinders business, related to tax, customs, licenses and permits, fair competition, public procurement and other areas.
The website, developed by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA) and the European Business Association (EBA) Armenia, is designed to generate solid evidence and statistical data upon which to base reform suggestions.
It is part of the initiative to improve public-private dialogue between the Armenian government and SMEs, and create a favourable business environment for SMEs in Armenia.
The “Evidence-based advocacy for reform” project is implemented in the frame of "Support to SME Development in Armenia" (SMEDA) project, which is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development BMZ) and implemented by GIZ Private Sector Development in South Caucasus Programme. SMEDA is part of the EU4Business and EU4Innovation initiatives of the European Union.
