The Khmelnytskyi Business Support Centre is hosting an international conference on 21 September on cooperation in the greenhouse industry, organised with the support of the EBRD in Ukraine, as part of the EU4Business initiative.
The market for greenhouse crops is developing rapidly in Ukraine. Improvements in cultivation technologies make it possible to increase yields and reduce the cost of production.
Yet while highly profitable, development of the market is stalled by a number of obstacles, including:
- the widespread use of innovations in the technological process means potential players in the market lack the practical knowledge and skills of the greenhouse business;
- most of the problems in the industry remain unresolved due to the reluctance to work together – cooperation provides the opportunity to unite efforts and funds that will increase the profitability and profitability of each individual producer.
In addition to Ukrainian speakers, the conference will be addressed by speakers from Israel, Poland, South Korea and Turkey.
The conference includes discussion panels on the following topics:
- advantages of different forms of cooperation;
- technological solutions for modern greenhouse complexes;
- greenhouse industry in different countries;
- experience of foreign organisations and main trends in the greenhouse industry;
The conference also includes a workshop on “Successful management systems in a greenhouse enterprise”, as well as B2B opportunities and an exhibition of greenhouse equipment.
The KhmelnytskyiBusiness Support Centre is part of the EU-funded Network of Business Support Centres, which aims to improve the competitiveness and bankability of Ukrainian SMEs through the provision of business advice and capacity building. It also supports BSOs in 15 regions of Ukraine in setting up a network of EU4Business Business Support Centres (BSCs). At least 30,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs will benefit from the project.
