Sanitary and phytosanitary requirements and their application in the Republic of Moldova

A series of debates and training sessions on phytosanitary issues for EU exports are taking place in the Republic of Moldova over the coming month, as part of the EU4 Business initiative.

The events are organised by the EU-funded project on 'Visibility and communication for actions related to the implementation of the Association Agreement / Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (AA/DCFTA) within EU-funded assistance programmes'.

The event aims to inform, advise and train local producers to leverage available opportunities and address the challenges of the AA/DCFTA. More specifically, companies will be able to find out more about:

  • Current and future EU requirements regarding phytosanitary aspects upon import and EU sanitary standards to ensure the safety of own production and imports;
  • Strategies for access to the EU market for products of plant and animal origin (honey);
  • Customs procedures and rules of origin for products of plant origin (fruit, vegetables).

The event will be attended by well-known business and export experts, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and support agencies, representatives of business organisations and producer associations.

The ‘Visibility and Communication for AA/DCFTA’ project, funded by the European Union under its EU4Business initiative, provides reliable information on opportunities offered by the AA/DCFTA to Moldovan businesses, as well as practical trainings on how to make use of those opportunities.
