On 21-22 September, the Odessa Business Support Centre will be organising a ‘Franchising Forum’ for local SMEs, with the support of the EBRD as part of the EU4Business initiative.
Franchising is an effective tool for creating, strategically developing, and diversifying business, for marketing, and increasing profitability. Most franchise companies are characterised by steady development, even against the backdrop of negative growth in the economy as a whole. The main reason for this sustainability is the ability of the franchising model to create savings on the scale of business and reduce the inherent retail risk by replicating standard operating practices at franchising outlets.
The franchising forum will provide an opportunity not only to discuss issues of risk minimisation and legal support, but also create a platform for a modern market of national franchises and search for ways to commercialise intellectual property. SME representatives will be able to look at any business that suits them according to the following criteria: market segment, size of investments, payback periods and the existence of a franchise in the market.
The Odessa Business Support Centre is part of the EU-funded Network of Business Support Centres, which aims to improve the competitiveness and bankability of Ukrainian SMEs through the provision of business advice and capacity building. It also supports BSOs in 15 regions of Ukraine in setting up a network of EU4Business Business Support Centres (BSCs). At least 30,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs will benefit from the project.
