Farmers from the Zaporizhzhye and neighbouring regions in Ukraine are invited to take part in a two-day Forum on ‘Strengthening the capacity of farmers through the development of horticulture and the cultivation of new niche crops’. The Forum is organised on 1-2 November by the Business Support Centre in Zaporizhzhya, with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development under the EU4Business initiative of the European Union.

The deadline for registration is 27 October.

How to give a new impulse to the growth of small and medium-sized farms in the Zaporizhzhye region? What will help to increase the competitiveness and expand the export geography of regional companies? How to improve after-harvesting production and increase sales of agrarian products? The answers to these and many other questions will be considered during the Forum.

The key topics for panel discussions are:

  • The experience of growing and exporting fruit and berry, vegetable and new niche crops
  • Certification in the cultivation of berries
  • Packaging and storage of fruit and berry, vegetable and new niche crops
  • Risk insurance in the cultivation of agricultural crops
  • IT technologies in agriculture
  • Ways to increase margins on the production of berries

During two days, participants will be able not only to get useful information and participate in the discussion, but also to hold B2B meetings with potential partners.

About 30 speakers – specialists in the agro-industrial sector, representatives of international technical assistance programmes, foreign and Ukrainian business associations – will visit Zaporizhzhye.

It is expected that more than 200 owners and managers of agrarian and food processing enterprises of Zaporizhzhya and neighbouring regions will take part in the event.

The Zaporizhzhye Business Support Centre is part of the EU-funded Network of Business Support Centres, which aims to improve the competitiveness and bankability of Ukrainian SMEs through the provision of business advice and capacity building. It also supports BSOs in 15 regions of Ukraine in setting up a network of EU4Business Business Support Centres (BSCs). At least 30,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs will benefit from the project.
