The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Advice for Small Businesses unit organised a two-day training course on “export readiness” in Tbilisi in October

The course, “Business Diagnostics for Export Readiness”, was held from 25 to 27 October as part of the EU4Business programme. The aim is to assist SMEs in Eastern Partnership countries in promoting their exports to EU countries by analysing export readiness and potential exportation areas.

As well as analysing their readiness for export, the course also helped companies apply analytical tools to their products and production methods, suggesting ways of improving these to maximise export opportunities.

Other elements of the course included using appropriate marketing methods to position the company in foreign markets and adopting international best practices for export promotion.

The training, led by EU expert Robert Fonteijn, focused on the ability of participants to identify areas of potential export-led growth and gave a complete overview of how to draw up export strategies.
