First-time exporters looking for help to kick start their export journey have the opportunity to sign up for a two-day training workshop organised by the EBRD and EU4Business in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on 22-23 September 2017. Today is the last day for registration.

It is organised in the framework of the EU4Business Network of Business Support Centres, implemented in Ukraine by the EBRD.

The strategic decision to grow a business through export is an important milestone for most companies, and one that requires reflection, evaluation and planning. It is important for companies to have ambitions for their business in export markets, but unplanned and unstructured ventures can be costly and potentially damaging to the business in the long-term.

The course is designed to help participants ensure that exporting is right for them and is aligned to their overall business growth strategy.

During the course – delivered in English with simultaneous translation – participants will:

• Understand the roles of the multilateral agencies that regulate global trade – WTO, WCO and ICC

• Understand the export trade cycle and the sequence of an international transaction

• Establish an export sales contract

• Perform import and export procedures and customs processes

• Understand Incoterms 2010 and the relative risks and responsibilities of each term

• Know where to obtain market information and data

• Understand the roles of regulatory bodies – customs, standards –and exporters’ responsibilities in relation to compliance

• Make supply chain decisions on shipping and distribution

• Select appropriate payment terms

The course will help participants develop the fundamental knowledge required to support private sector enterprise with the strategic expansion into international export markets.

It also includes a 90-minute one-to-one follow-up mentoring session to assist participants and their team with the practical application and ongoing development of the course objectives.

The EU-funded Network of Business Support Centres project aims to improve the competitiveness and bankability of Ukrainian SMEs through the provision of business advice and capacity building. It also supports BSOs in 15 regions of Ukraine in setting up a network of EU4Business Business Support Centres (BSCs). At least 30,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs will benefit from the project.
