The ‘Empowering Regions through High-Tech 2018’ forum will take place for the second time this year in Gyumri, Armenia on 1-2 December. The forum, organised with the support of the EU-SMEDA project and the EU4Business initiative, aims at strengthening entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystems, and connecting tech and non-tech SMEs in the regions.
During the 2-day forum, entrepreneurs and young people engaged in the IT and high-tech sectors from all regions of Armenia will gather at the Gyumri Technology Centre(GTC) to network and learn from each other. In particular they will:
- Present successful experiences, products of start-ups and companies from the regions;
- Identify opportunities for regions to be part of the global IT and high-tech network;
- Identify new models of cooperation with universities to develop a start-up ecosystem and an updated tech curriculum with a practical learning component;
- Provide opportunities for tech start-ups to establish partnerships with non-tech SMEs.
The EU4Business SMEDA (Support to SME Development in Armenia) project supports the improvement of the business and investment climate for SMEs in Armenia. It aims to strengthen the private sector, support SME coordination mechanisms, and foster links between research institutions and the private sector, as well as providing access to finance for SMEs.
