If you own or manage an SME in Georgia then attend the European Investment Bank (EIB) conference in Tbilisi on Monday 8 May, to find out how to access EIB finance for a wide range of projects in Georgia.

The free-of-charge event organised under the EU4 Business programme will provide CEOs, CFOs and other top executives of SMEs with a unique networking opportunity where they can meet EIB experts and peers one-on-one.

SMEs from various sectors, particularly agriculture and finance, are invited to attend the conference, as well as financial intermediaries and other stakeholders.

Entitled “EU4Business in Georgia: EIB Group Improving Access to Finance”, the event is organised with Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA), the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and the EU Delegation in Georgia.

In December 2016, the EIB signed loan agreements with the government to provide record financing of EUR 450 million in Georgia.

These three agreements cover:

  • EUR 250m to finance the building and upgrading of priority roads identified by the government, which will enhance international connectivity and domestic mobility;
  • EUR 100m for the rehabilitation and upgrading of municipal infrastructure throughout the country, and;
  • a EUR 100m intermediated loan to implement SME and midcap company projects in the horticulture and wine sectors.

Implementation of the loans is being supported by Technical Assistance activities funded by the EU’s Neighbourhood Investment Facility and Eastern Partnership Technical Assistance Trust Fund.
