A three-day training course on ‘Best Practices for Export and Trade Finance’ is being organised by the Sumy Business Support Centre in Ukraine supported by the European bank for Reconstruction and Development in the framework of the EU4Business initiative. The training takes place from 25-27 October 2017. The deadline for registration is 20 October.
The course aims to help exporters evaluate the opportunities for entering new markets, ensuring that payment methods and financing options can be successfully used to increase export volumes and, thus, ensure confidence in a stable economic development.
The training is interactive, with a focus on practical tools, and includes the use of case studies and mini-exercises based on real-world situations. Each topic consists of informational materials and practical exercises to help participants develop a strategy for export development and an action plan that is consistent with their business strategies and goals.

- Evaluation of new markets and preferential trade agreements
- Database of basic market access and IFC indexes "Trade across borders"
- Export market research
- WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement – What does it mean for exporters
- Export Credit Risk - commercial, sovereign, bank risks
- Export credit management and minimization of credit risk
- Sources of credit information
- Choosing the appropriate method and payment terms
- Forfeiting, factoring, credit risk insurance
- International payments tools: advance payment, open account, promissory notes, documentary letters of credit
- Combination of payment methods with international commercial terms Incoterms
- Single fee and practice for documentary credits -UCP 600
- International Banking Standards - 2017 Review
- Discrepancies - problems and solutions to resolve divergences
- DOCDEX rules
- Overview of news about Incoterms 2010 and WCO SAFE
The course also includes a 90-minute one-to-one follow-up mentoring session to assist participants and their team with the practical application and ongoing implementation of the course objectives.
The training will be conducted by an experienced British trade expert, in English with simultaneous translation into Ukrainian.
The Sumy Business Support Centre is part of the EU-funded Network of Business Support Centres, which aims to improve the competitiveness and bankability of Ukrainian SMEs through the provision of business advice and capacity building. It also supports BSOs in 15 regions of Ukraine in setting up a network of EU4Business Business Support Centres (BSCs). At least 30,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs will benefit from the project.

Participation
With the support of the EU, participants pay a reduced participation fee of UAH 2,430, which includes training hand-out materials, light breakfast, coffee-breaks and lunches, as well as follow-up consulting/coaching provided two months after the course.
