A 10-day exhibition on industrial design, with funding and support from the EU-SMEDA project, will take place in the Armenian capital Yerevan from 15-24 June.

Industrial design is a field that needs attention and improvement in Armenia, where product design remains under-developed, despite the efforts of some notable designers and their teams, successfully working on product and industrial design. To support them in showcasing their products and to strengthen this developing field, EU-SMEDA is supporting the second ‘Nerka design happening’ exhibition, which will take place at RA Government Building No. 2, on Republic Square in Yerevan.

The ten-day exhibition aims to explore the innovative and continued appeal of the contemporary design approach and solutions. The exhibition will bring together leading Armenian designers and architects and international professionals, to create a real and active platform for the development of industrial design in Armenia and foster the collaboration of creative minds with business and the industrial sector.

The exhibition will showcase the works of 18 individual designers and collectives working on product and industrial design. More than 30 design pieces with the stories of designers beyond each object will be presented at the exhibition.

The EU-SMEDA (Support to SME Development in Armenia) project, funded by the EU in the framework of its EU4Business initiative, supports the improvement of the business and investment climate for SMEs in Armenia. It aims to strengthen the private sector, support SME coordination mechanisms, and foster links between research institutions and the private sector, as well as providing access to finance for SMEs.
