The EU4Business programme East Invest 2 is holding a two-and-a-half-day academy on access to EU and other foreign markets in Tbilisi in Georgia from 28 to 30 March 2017.
SMEs from the agro-food and food processing sector are invited to take part in the event, which consists of five courses presented by EU experts.
These include an introduction to the EU acquis communautaire, the common set of rights and obligations binding its member states, as well as discussion of free trade agreements related procedures, regulations and technical standards in relation to selling foodstuffs in EU countries.
The second day of the academy – Wednesday 29 March - is dedicated to marketing and communication and how to present products in foreign markets, participate successfully in trade fairs and network with potential business partners. The final sessions will discuss how Eastern Partnership (EaP) businesses can make themselves export-ready for EU and other foreign markets.
The academy will be opened by representatives from the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Georgian Ministry of European Integration, the EU Delegation to Georgia, the German international cooperation agency GIZ, and the East Invest 2 project management team.
Around 30 SMEs are expected to take part in the academy. The objective of such academies is to support SMEs in procedures relating to the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) Georgia has with the EU.
